Default brake light and pressue problem

so after doing the cv joint replacement job that i have been putting off for so long i decided to bleed my brakes...after the cv job i noticed my brakes stopped working...im guessing its the brake light switch but idk, im going to test voltage to the lights tomorrow...about the brakes, i cant get good pressure to them...if i pump them once or twice it gains pressure instantly afterwards but the next time i try to brake i must pump the pedal once or twice again to have good pressure to stop..any ideas on what this could be?

You have not bleed them properly and you still have air in them.

LOL! I agree with p76, bleed them again! I'll never agree with him again.

There is a specific procedure for the bleed. If you don't follow it you won't get it right. Read your manual. I know, I know, reading is hard. I hate to read my manual also.

If you don't have the procedure let me know.

There are certain safety aspects of a motor vehicle that you should not play with unless you know what you are doing. Brakes is one of them. The first couple of times you should get someone that knows what they are doing to help you.

I assume that the Rangie in question has ABS. This adds further complication to the task and you can esaily stuff up the ABS unit if you don't know what you are doing. A relatively simply job of changing brake pads can cause the ABS unit to fail if you don't do it correctly.

So my recommendation is not to read a manual and don't try and do it yourself. Take it to someone that knows what they are doing and watch and ask questions. Then maybe have a go next time if you are feeling confident.

I agree with the guys, read the manual and seek someone with brake experience to assist you. When I did brakes on a friend of mine's truck and ended up bleeding all the way round, we found there was a special way of doing it, and by following the steps, we bled the system and got r' done. On a Rover system, especially that of ABS, requires a very sophisticated brake bleed procedure, so follow the manual.

It was on mine.

I think I have a write up on that on my site. It was about 2 years ago, I think.

I went and looked. NOPE. Never finished writing it up.
It's no big deal though.
