Default broken classic

So my 93 got a ride on a flat bed today! when I pulled into a gas station, my wheel jerked a bit. after filling up, I pulled away and wheel jerked a good bit more and then BANG somthing snaped and no power! In gear ,the front prop shaft spins, so Im guessing its in the pinion. Any ideas?

Should have still driven if something in the front or rear went. So indications are that it is something in transfer case or transmission.

I would think it's something in the front end I don't know that the vc would lock up in that case so the TC would just play the role of a open diff sending all the power to the point of least resistance. I may be wrong though wouldn't be the first time.

in theary, if everything was working properly, i could pull my front shaft and still be able to drive/move the truck on its own power. could it be that rear portion of my t/c failed, thus causing eccessive load to my front pinion and snapping it?

despite the fact that it won't go any where can you shift it... did you put it in neutral to put it on the flat bed, maybe its just slipping from no atf?

The VC won't let the two propshafts turn at different speeds (only very slightly). If your front shaft is spinning the rear is not you definitely have something wrong with your transfer case/VC.

Thanks all! It wound up being that my viscous coupling failed open, giving power only to the front end. as a result, a week left front c/v exploded and left me callin a tow truck.
All better now.
