Default Bypassing the Inertia switch

I had to tow the RRC home the other night. I was having trouble with my Inertia switch haing to always reset it to get the fuel pump to come on. Well it finally would not reset. When I got it home the switch was cracked in half. So I plugged the plugs together and all was well. I went out in the morning and the battery was dead. Do I need to do something else besides just plugging the ends together?
