Default Can I install a center differential lock? 93RRC

I am used to a DI. I can lock the Center Differential. I can not do this on my 93 RRC. Can I buy a kit, and do it manualy. Like a 99-2000 DII? I have tried doing a search, but I get no info. Maybe I didn't search correct?

The transfer case in your 1993 is an entirely different unit made by Borg Warner. It is a chain driven viscous coupled tranfer case as opposed to the manual locking, gear driven transfer case you are used to.

To achieve the ability to manually lock your differential you will need to buy an LT230 like the one that was in you Discovery. Range Rovers did have LT230's for the first two years in the US ('87-'88) but they were considered to noisy and inappropriate for a luxury SUV.

If you are really interested in doing the swap, I'm sure there are plenty of Rover owners who have done the job. You might want to go to either Discoweb.org or Pirates 4X4 to check their archives for details. It isn't complicated but not something for someone to undertake without the proper tools or experience.

By the way, I just happen to have an LT230 out of a '96 Discovery for $200 if you're interested. I shipped one to the midwest a few months ago and shipping was arount $135 from CT.

Thanks! After I posted this, I scoured Dweb. and found some good info. I would love to have a DL, but I am not going to do a swap. The RR is in too good of a condition to start these kind of mods. I will just get a Disco for my playing around. Thanks for all your time!!
Eric.
