Default CD player in 93' SWB

Hello all,

I have a CD player in my 93' but it sticks out too much. It is an aftermarket Pioneer unit and isn't any larger than any other brand so why does it stick out? Do I need an install kit, if so who owned Range Rover during the production year of 1993? Please let me know either way. Thank you.

When I was RE-installing my head unit I had trouble getting it to sit down flush as well. I found it was the GIANT WAD of wires back behind the unit. I moved them out of the way and cleaned them up.
Is your aftermarket unit longer than the original?
The original unit just barely fits in the space provided.

Yeah, I got that same problem!! I know though it is from all the wires. I wanted to keep my stock speaker set-up, b/c my Sub still works, and sounds good! The pre-amps are plugged directly into the back of the radio, I have it crammed as much as possible, but it will work for now!

Hello again,

Yes, it is the wires but I have messed around with them for ages now and I just can't get it to work.........where did you get that nice piece of black plastic in your photo as that could be the solution? Is the CD player mounted in there or can anyone just come and remove it when they please?

Let me know and thanks for the fast reply.

I had free installation at Circuit City. The only thing I had to pay for was the sound filters. The guy had it at the store, and I had to go in 4 times to get it done right! The poor guy worked REAL hard to take care of me, they lost out on that deal!! I can not just be pulled out! It don't look too pretty, but it isn't going anywhere!
