94 classic LWB. had break pad dummy light on and squeaky brakes so ordered new pads and when I went to change old pads the old ones had plenty of meat left but rotors were pretty glazed. changed pads anyway and tried to scuff off glaze. dummy light stayed on anyway with new pads but worked fine. only issue now is when i press pedal maybe one out of five times the pedal will jerk a little as they grab. hard to explain feel but seems a little firm to press then goes in maybe a inch and grabs firmly. kind of rigid. anyone with any help it would be greatly appreciated.
should have had the rotors turned or replaced them then you probably wouldn't have the grabby brake issue

It will be that you attempted to clean the glaze off the discs. It would appear that you cleaned it off better in some sections than others.
To get the glaze you are probably heating up the brakes a little much through over use. I use to have this problem due to the amount of off-road miles. Changed the pads to something a little coarser and do not have the problem anymore.
didn't have time to replace rotors when took apart because didn't know they were bad and have none available locally here in Hawaii so trying to scuff was only option until can get some. doesn't really feel like its not grabbing the rotors more seems like the pedal isn't smooth when you press. kind of steps a notch when you press. kind of a jump in the pedal. sorry only way i can really try to explain. possibly the caliper hanging up? very strange feel.
Can you turn rover rotors? Someone had posted that the metal was two soft to have turned, urban myth ? I need to turn mine, but don't want to pull them and then sit while waiting for the UPS man for the replacements. Advice.
