Default check out this hose!

This is/was the intake hose on that 89 classic I bought a few weeks ago. the last owner said it took him 1 hour to drive 2 miles, he changed all the injectors, f/pump & regulator before he gave up and sold it for 150.00
can you say tunnel vision! p.s. I did not alter/ play with this hose. That is how I found it

looks fine, just spray some armorall on it and put it back on..........

Obviously the problem is much deeper, must be a cracked block or shelled piston....I would throw some more money at it before you replace that intake hose.....

seriously, good for you!!!! - on a side note, has anyone found a alternative replacement for this part? Maybe on the bling-bling aisle at pepboys? mine is ragged and held together with tape as well but $80 seems a bit steep for air intake hose.

Stevo-II, the one I put on it is solid rubber, not cloth like normal. not sure where it came from as it's off a parts truck, but I think it came from Adl/Brit. It looks pretty bullet proof

I replaced mine with a universal one from autozone. You cut it to fit. There is enough ducting to make 4 of them for $20.00. It only comes with 2 sleeves but they are reusable.

Ok, I've seen the one from British Pacific and it looks like the molded rubber hose - but it was ~$70. I might check out the generic one from the "zone" and see how it looks!

Back to basics. Everyone always busts out Fuel/Spark for a poor running car.

Air, Compression and Timing are often forgot. His lose, your gain! Good for you!

This proves the worth of a solid diagnosis and staying away from the part shotgun!
