Default Child restraint 88 rangie

Hello all

Finally the moment of compromise is here. I need to install a baby capsule in my 88 rangie.

These things retail for $150-$400... fair enough. The dude says that I also need to install a gadget behind the seat to anchor the capsule or child restraint on. Wait for it. $358.

The dude went into sales mode trying to suggest price should be no object with safety in mind etc etc...

Has anybody installed a child seat in an older rangie? did you need to buy this gadget?

Did the engineers credited for designing the greatest 4x4 not consider child seats?

Cheers
Ben

Default Child seat anchors.......

Hi Ben,
If your RR is the same as mine it will have the rear seat belt buckles mounted in the floor just behind the rear seats. These buckles have a mounting ring (just about protruding through the carpet) These can be used for child seat anchor points.
cheers,
Andy

Legal?
Where do you live, Nazi Germany? Either that or California it sounds.
Did you have a look at the 358$ part?
What was it and how did it work?

No, Nazi Australia.

The reason the part is so dear is that "the design has been crash tested and certified". It's just a few bits of channel made into a triangle with hi tensile bolts and bolted to the floor behind the back seat.

4wd Vehicles imported after 1990 had to comply with Australian design rules and have an anchor point in the back to comply with AS1754 or something.

My RR is 88 model.
Cheers
Ben
