Thinking about buying a 2000 or so discovery, prices have really come down on these, 12K will buy a nice one. Thought I'd ask here since I'm a classic owner and wanted your advice. Going to keep the 92 RR I have, just looking for a new toy (money pit). C.

I'd love to be in the Rat Patrol

I bought a 2003. The RRC needs some restoration if she is expected to last so I figured I'd get a Disco I wouldn't need to work on.

Oh hell...neither did I.
I don't like the seats a much as I do my RRC. And it seems a bit bumpier a ride. But I don't worry about the exhaust or it not starting or it not braking. Get in and go. Hell I couldn't even decide how many tools to pack in her. So I got a couple of screw drivers and some wrenches. But that's it. I know I should be but I just can't manage to get excited about it. |

I had a 2000 Disco SE7 that I got rid of a couple years ago and have missed ever since. My wife had to have a Jag, so there you go.
Anyway, I loved my Disco. I've been trying to talk the Mrs. into letting me get another one, and I think she's finally starting to see things my way. Probably because I've been pestering her for a year and a half. Find a nice one and get it. The stuff that will go wrong at this point is the same stuff that goes wrong with any six or seven year old vehicle, plus the usual Disco stuff. Since you have a Classic that runs, you are obviously at least semi-mechanically inclined. As long as you can fix the typical stuff on a Disco you're good.

well, I love my classic, and the only other rover I want is a '57 86". So I'd say do whatever. But us classic fans are becoming fewer and fewer.

i will always think the rrc's and series r the best designs, i like the disco's alot but how many models along w/ the series have used the same design for 35 plus years.
buy the disco and have the best of both worlds!!!

I love all LR's period, but Disco's are just plain cool. Yeah they are slightly taller, but after trying out Discodude's (Ryan's) D1, which was a stick as well, I just love the rigidity of the truck.
My truck, yeah is pretty capable, but not to the extreme. Us Classics are wide, so maneuvering around stuff is a bit of a challenge, especially for LWB's. ![]() I say go for it dude. ![]()

I also say go for it!! I have owned a 96 for 4years, I also bought a 99 DII($5000.00)
, sold to a friend, and now I own a 93 RRC. I love the RRC. I do miss both of the Disco's! I have since worked on the 96 DI, the family is in love with it, and they have since become my friends as well! The DII, is a fine driving machine, with its own quirks though, love the ACE system(stabilizing). If I could, I would own all at the same time!! Here are pic of them!
