Default Coolant cap defective or head gaskets?

Blew the temp sensor out on the upper hose this afternoon. I rebuilt the engine about 6K miles ago and have had to add about a pint and a half of coolant in that time which was due to small leaks here and there. There is no bubbling or gurgling and the oil looks good with a stable level. I had been somewhat concerned that the pressure was too high since the upper hose seemed to be a bit firm, not hard but firm. I zip tied the sensor back in place refilled the reservoir and put the cap on not quite snug and drove home without issue. Bad cap or should I go ahead and plan to do another head gasket job. Oh yeah, it didn't even come close to over heating. I heard it blow and coasted to a stop.

Is it normal for the radiator hose to get harder as the revs rise?

my guess is you had an air pocket or bubble and didn't burp it out during refill. probably a small crack in the "T" somewhere as well. I pieced together a threaded solid T fitting from advanced auto and cut/inserted it into a cheaper straight pipe -- it works better and no leaks at a rubber junction. what a poor factory design...

use WATER WETTER (autozone). read directions closely...about $7.99

Did you remove the air burping plastic plug on the passenger side of the engine when refilling?

I've got bubbles across the top of the radiator. It's head gaskets.
