coolant leaking under floorboards???
so i was out of town for a couple days and i came back tonight and drove my car when i got home...after about 10 miles i felt heat coming from the driver floorboard, it smelled like hot coolant...i pulled over and the carpet was soaked with hot coolant...i checked the engine and didnt se anything wrong with it, the coolant was completely empty so i filled it up...i checked under the car and couldnt see any leaks, about every 5 miles the cooaltn would completely leak out and the light would start 2 flash..this happened about 4 times before i got home and parked it...any ideas what the hell is wrong?? i think it may be a head gasket leak thru the exhaust

This smells like heater core with a hole in it. This is the common culprate, hot coolant on the carpet. I don't think in Texas, this time of year you'd have your heater running, so try running the heater and see if any coolant leaks from under the dash. This is the only way coolant could enter the cabin, is through that heater core.
I too am having problems with the cooling system. I overheat at weird times, and can't figure it out, but have it narrowed down to the thermostat being bad, not sure yet. I posted earlier about it. These RRC's have a notorious thing for having problems with the cooling system; overheating, coolant loss, head gaskets blowing, heater cores bursting. It really sucks.

ok so it is definetly the heater core...i dont know why it is leaking under the driver floorboard since the heater core is on the passenger side...i think i am just going to connect the hoses so that the coolant doesnt reach the heater core...does anybody have any experience working with the heater core or any of the hoses?

The hoses for the heater core are on the left side of the core. The driver's side. The heater core is in the heater box directly over the transmission hump.

okie i emailed u about fixing the heater core...you said the hoses come in throught he drivers side...i have a feeling that a hose busted loose because i tightened all the coolant hoses before the leak happened, so im guessing there was a pressure build up and it broke a hose/the heater core...is it possible 2 reach the hoses by taking out the panel under the steering column? or do i have 2 take the whole dashboard out?

Wow.
You might be able to see the hoses on the heater box... I'm trying to remember if there is anything in the way... How lucky would that be if you just had a loose hose? I don't think you can remove the hoses or manipulate them with out accessing them from the engine side. I think you can SEE the hoses from the driver's side foot well with some bits pulled off. Not sure how much help that will be.
