Hi guys,I know that this topic has been covered( I did a search). But none of them seemed to cover my year and model. I have a 1989 Classic and I recently had the motor mounts changed. Since then no CC. I noticed while changing the oil that when they changed the drivers side tranny mount, they removed the bracket attached to the chassis to change it. When they were done they neglected to re-attach the VSS to one of the bracket bolts. It was just hanging by the Speedo cables. Is it possible they damaged the VSS. The speedo works fine and engine performance is fine. I checked the vacuum line from the pump(disconnected main line from pump and applied vacuum,no leaks diaphram moved and held).
I also have read that there is an ECU for the speed control. Can you tell me where that might be. When I engage the dash mounted switch I can hear a relay under the passenger seat click..Any input would Help.. Thanks You.. |

First, check to make sure that all of your vacuum lines are in good order. They run from the pedals up to the cruise control module located in the left front corner of the engine bay, to the accumulator (that black plactic ball) and on to the actuator in with the linkage by the plenum. Most cruise control issue are the result of bad hoses and it's my bet that in the course of the work that was done a hose was either disconnected or cut.
If you want to get to the Hella cruise control ECU, you'll find that part to the right of the steering column under the dash binnacle. Once you remove the lower dash cover you'll find the binnacle itself is held in place with four small nuts (6mm I think) and the two nuts on the right also hold the ECU in place. It's the silver box about the size of two cigarette packs and is clearly marked Hella in blue print. In my experience I've only seen one ECU go bad in all the years I've owned Rovers but you never know. |
