Default Cruise Control won't work

I have a Range Rover classic from 1995. For some reason my cruise control won't work. The button to put it on works, but when i try to set the speed it just doesnt want to set.

Could also be a broken vacuum hose. Do a search on this forum for cruise control.

Default Cruise Control won't work

Hi
If it the same system as fitted to mt 92 RR, check the vacuum pipe for leaks, the mechanism pulls on the throttle assembly.
regards

I've still got the vacuum diagram under my hood. But it doesn't tell me where the hoses on the pump go. Does anyone have a diagram of that?

Smile Cruise Control 94/95MY ("soft dash" version)

This is my first post here. I bought a "soft dash" Classic a year ago with only 125K (kms) and from day one the cruise ENGAGE (Set+) worked when it felt like it. Knowing little about these cars (and not much more now!) the LR dealer snipped the end off the vac. hose (it was perished) and on e'bay I bought a new vac. pump but never did get around to installing it. Now it gets INTERESTING....
One day, in anger/frustration I pressed the top Set+ button (for ENGAGE/SET+) being the top button just to the right of the centre steering wheel air bag "hub" and the button fell off in protest.. which THEN left the small circuit board BARE and EXPOSED protruding from the RHS of the air bag "pad". I panicked, but upon feeling behind the board, I located what felt like a little "detent" button. When I pushed that "button" (gently THIS time!) TOWARD me with my forefinger, the cruise control was found to engage (Set) each and EVERY time. No exceptions!!

So AFTER all THAT.. it was the switch, because upon examination of the displaced (my "fault"!) "Set+" button, I found that its top plastic "pivot" point was broken whilst the lower one was about to go also. The top button had NEVER felt "right" (like the lower Resume- button did and IT had always worked) and was apparently trying to "twist" on its axis thereby preventing its inside "face" from depressing the "detent" set button on the rear of the circuit board.

I fitted a used switch (Set+/ Resume- etc as COMBINED in ONE "assembly") that I bought on E'bay and all was well.

Now I CRUISE all the time!
