Should there be any play in the distributer? There is about 1/4"to 1/2" of play in the rotor shaft. Is this correct? It is a 89 3.9 RRC. Also has anybody ever tried changeing the tuning resistor? Thanks in advance

i believe that amount of play is correct , but there is a spring that should return the rotor when released, mine was stuck too(89 county) and i just did as the book says and put a drop or two of oil down the center of the shaft and worked it back and forth. it took quite a bit of working and re-oiling to get mine to return .but eventually it did when advance and retract on a smooth spring loaded arch. every tune up that shaft needs a drop or two of oil.
