Default Driveline Issues need help!!!

I have had a noise in my driveline for a few months now but have not been able to track it down. I drove my rover down to the beach and the noise is 10 times louder now. It is only when i am acellerating either up or down and does not matter whether im usin brakes or am in gear. I think my front drive shaft my be coming out of the differential. I can see maybe an inch of the splines and I do not know if that is normal. I do not think it is CV joints because it does not relate to turning. If it is the driveline how can i fix it. I would like to avoid the dealer at all costs but im on vaccation and supposed to be leaving in 2 days so any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Mark
