I have an '85 that had a 3.5L with twin Strmbergs on it. I eventually ditched that engine and installed a 4.0L out of a Disco and in doing so put an Edelbrock 4 barrel on. After a couple of weeks of tweaking, the truck is an animal, all the while getting just under 14 mpg and that's with a winch, roof rack and lights adding to the wonderful aerodynamic design of the Range Rover! Check with your state and its emission laws because you won't be able to legally do this conversion everywhere.

Summit Racing sells the Edelbrock 2198 intake for about $225 and the Edelbrock 1404 4 barrel with a manual choke is about the same. I also went with a Mallory Unilite distributor and coil that I got from Summit also.

Yes, the manifold is the same. In fact, I used the Edelbrock 2198 manifold (listed for 3.5L) on my 4.0L engine. Pretty much anywhere you see that the part is good for 3.5L it will be useable on your 3.9L.
