Default electric window issues - ground?

The front windows do not work, and the rear windows can only be controlled from the center console switch panel. I suspected i just had a bad ground so i dremeled off the bed liner where the center console ground is - transmission tunnel, where mounting screw for center console goes at the foot of the cubby box. Still not working.

I still suspect ground. I have the kind of after market window switches which are illuminated. Only the rear window switches that are in the center console are illuminated. The front ones and the ones in the rear doors are not. So my guess is I still don't have them grounded well. Any ideas?

Check the relays. You should have one for the front & one for the rear. I think they are in the cubby area on your 91. Clean or swap or replace to see if that helps.

And pray that your ECU isn't toast. I've replaced two since I bought my 93 in June of 2000.

thanks. by ECU - is there a dedicated power windows ECU? or do you mean the 'one touch up down controller' that is in the cubby box? I'm trying to think of a single reason why all windows worked before dis-assembly, and now i get front not working, rear working only from cubby box switches, rear not working from rear door switches. which is why i was thinking bad ground. if rear window relay problem i would think they wouldnt work at all. is there a way to test these components with some basic electronic test equip?
