Default Electrical Oddity

95 LWB.

Started noticing a quick electrical cutout at low idle. Symptoms:

1. Truck would almost stall during low idle, say pulling slowly into parking.
2. Noise through stereo (subwoofer would go "tonk")
3. At highway speed, very quick cutout and speedo would drop. I'm talking half a second.

Anyone have suggestions? Alternator would cause slow drain rather than split-second cutout, right?

This sounds more like a bad ground or battery connection than an alterntor issue.

Remove and clean the battery terminals, and inspect the wiring carfully. Look at the engine ground strap as well as the + batt term to the alternator.

You can get a free alternator test at most auto parts stores if you still suspect an alt problem.
