Default engine diagnostic?

my service engine light has been on for a while and now my check engine light is on...i think the mass airflow meter is going bad because whenever i even touch it while the engine is running is dies down...the land rover dealership charges over $100 to do a diagnostic...does anyone know of other places that do diagnostics for a 94 RRC?

the diagnostic system changes in 1995 so it is very difficult to find a place that will do it

If it is like the Discos, there will be a small box under the r/f pass. seat the you should be able to read a code from. Your truck is an OBD1 and shouldn't need to go to the dealer for code reading.
After you find and repair the problem, then you can work on turning off the service light.

The code box is behind the plastic that faces the door on the bottom of the passenger seat. You will see a code there and if you look it up it will tell you more or less where to start on the diagnosis. The Service Engine Light can be reset by shorting the sensor under the passenger seat. That box is brown and toward the back nearer the center of the truck. It should already have a hole in the paper that you insert a paper clip. Once you short it pull the paper clip and all is well.

And this is for all OBD I Land Rovers? And that this works for all RRC's?

I think all RRCs 1991 and forward have the code display. Might need to check this fact.
And reseting the code with the paper clip is pretty universal.
I cut my side panel so I could see the display all the time.
My wife thinks I'm looking under her skirt when she is getting in. I'm actually looking to see if I have any codes. But I let her think it's the skirt.
