If you want a powerful v-6 that is also a small buick engine (3.8), the motor from a grandnational would be sick. If you have ever ridden in one, they are fast!!!!
Before I got into RRCs, I was BIG into turbo Buicks---sold my 17k mile GN last summer and a barn full of parts enough to build 3 or 4 more complete cars and still have leftovers... Have been contemplating a LC2 swap into a RRC but I tossed my dead transmission before I remembered to pull the bellhousing to match up the bolt pattern to a 3.8 block.

Army, If you have the funds and want to do it right... Look at this site they have a Powerstroke and a ZF combo for sale... Id go for it myself if I could... Rover Hybrids Home Page

Add on The D-90 Source Foe Sale Section 2.8 Powerstroke with built Ashcroft ZF auto trans package!!!!!

2.8 HS powerstroke diesel engine and an Ashcroft custom built ZF transmission using the internals from a HP24 ZF transmission to better withstand the power of the 2.8. The package is new and has the transmission adapter from M&D engineering to mate the ZF to the 2.8.
This is the waste gate version of the PS engine.

Everything is here in CA.
$10k.

A bit high but a the Powerstroke is a reliable of a motor as you can get and around 30MPG is not bad either...

As for the "NO CHEVY ENGINES!!!! -do not belong in a range rover!
how about a 4.2!!" ...

Get real... Yeah a 4.2 is a remarkable upgrade...

I bet you only use Genuine Oil Filters...

That's disappointing - I know you wanted to consider that swap... I need to refresh the memory banks as to whether the 215 V8 bell housing and the 3.8/4.1 Buick V6 are the same...Stay tuned...

Army, I was talking to you about how I'm on the fence about using the MBZ Turbo 5cyl diesel I have. Here is a link to a guy that has done it and sells the adapters. I may go that route next summer

I have figured out that the bmw diesel is a pretty attractive swap as well you would have to fab up motor mounts no biggie. You would also need to swap the bellhousing off of the bmw as well but the zf tranny used is otherwise the same from all the details I can find.

D90 that powerstroke would be a sweet swap but way out of my price range.

That any my wife would castrate me for spending that much on the Rover
