Error Codes
So how much does anyone know about the error codes for a 1990 Rangie. My check engine light came on today (HOT, HUMID, UGLY running conditions), so I get around to the passenger seat and dissassemble the panel on the side to see what code I have...
(I have to admit, I've never had one before, so I'm somewhat relieved to know the thing actually still works) Anyway, the code I'm getting is #44. The list I've aquired show that to be the "lambda sensor A" (whatever the hell that is....) I discusses running to rich or to lean and misfiring or crossfiring plugs... ok, that all makes little sense to me and I'm wondering if someone can give me more diffinitive information. Maybe there isn't any... but I'm asking anyway!

From what it sounds like, it may very well be an Oxygen sensor gone bad, or actually picking up misfiring cylinders. How many miles are on your 90 RRC? If it is a lot, it could be the O2 sensor on the exhaust (there are two, not sure which one could be bad). If you end up replacing one O2 sensor, replace the other one, as in replace these things in pairs. Sorta like light bulbs or windshield wiper blades.

44 is passenger side if I remember correctly.
But in any event you should replace them in pairs. I know some guys on here replace just the bad sensor. But I do them in pairs as well. Disconnect your battery and reset the code. If it was a miss fired cylinder it might not come back on. If it does you should look into replacing them. Good news...your gas mileage will get better when you do.
