exploded catalytic converter .... - Land Rovers Only

My front catalytic converter of my 94 RRC LWB (4.2) is all rusted out and leaks big time .... Instead of buying a new one, could I just weld a pipe where the catalytic converter belongs ?

You could....

Do you have emission inspections? If so...you can't.

Somewhere, there is a law about messing with emission controls on a vehicle being punishable and whatnot.

From what I know: Catalytic converter is there to ensure a clean burn of all fuel, and to ensure that people with shitty running cars are not polluting the air in Los Angeles; they serve no purpose other than making the tailpipe exhaust slightly cleaner.

There isn't any emission inspections where I live ... I just want to be sure that my RR will still run good !
