I just succeeded in fixing my rear window switch (on right back door) which had recently broke thereby saving myself the 25$ for a replacement. At first glance the switch does not seem to come apart, but with a flathead screwdriver and a hammer in one of the side seems and a little luck, it pops open. One of my springs which worked the down movement had oversprung (?) from so much use so I squeezed it back down to size with some needlenose plyers. I then put it back in place using the up side of the switch as a reference and after much toil got it back in right. Then I put the switch back together and tried it out and sure enough it WORKED!
If yours ever goes out this might be a free quick fix to your problem! It took me about 30 minutes because of such small pieces and my xtra large hands. Oh yeah, work somewhere clean where you can find the springs if you drop them. I made this mistake and spent half the time looking for my spring i dropped. If this fix doesn't work also try some contact cleaner to clean up the contacts. I would have used some but I am in the process of procuring some so I tried it without! It sure is nice to fix something for a change. Now that I've done this I have confidence in my abilities to clean/fix my power seat switch. Good luck to all you out there and hope this helps someone! |
