I just bought a 93 Classic, I noticed the front speakers are not working correctly. I can just hear a little sound, if I put my ear up to the speakers. I heard there was an amplifier in the door. I looked there, and it was not an amplifier, it was the device to clean interferance!
Ok, so now what? Do you think the channels are burned out? The back sounds great! Any and all help would be appreciated.

there is a amp and sub in the back right cargo area. on the lwb and county's swb they had a 6 disc changer in the rightside lower cargo area. just pull the cover off the rightside of cargo area. the other side has the spare tire/jack etc. the speakers could be blown. if there factory that is a good long time for them. my front speakers rattle so i just unplugged them intell i have some $$$ to get new ones. i still have the tweeters in the front that work good.
http://www.rangerovers.net/modelspecs/1993.html i have linked this before in another thread or 2 but this has some good specs on RR's

I put another speaker on it, and no change... So you are saying I should check the amp where the changer is located? The stock speakers look great, and rear ones sound great. Do you think just the amp is blown? I will read over things on that site! THANKS!

Maybe the front speakers are powered by the radio? I fidled with the amp, there does not seem to be a loose wire...It is either all or nothing.

Ok, I fiddled with the right side speaker stuff. I got the tweeter, and the door speaker to work. The door speaker was comming apart. The tweeter I just had to take on and off, and it started working. I took the speakers and switched them to try and get the left side to work, still can't get it!
What else can I do? Loose connection some where for the left side??

Speakers that work/then dont work normally have connection related problems. This is the easiest way to test if the speaker or the wiring is the problem. NB - TURN THE HEAD UNIT OFF WHILE TESTING. Take a 1.5v AA battery and connect wires to + and - poles (or just hold it between thumb and forefinger). Then using the other ends of the wires test across the speaker terminals (polarity not important). If you hear a scratchy sound every time you touch the terminal, the speaker is fine. If not, bin the speaker. Once you have stablished the speaker is OK, use the same method to trace the path of the speaker wire back to the output from the headunit, i.e. every time you find a connection use your AA batt to check. The moment you dont hear the scratchy noise, it means the wire in between there and your previous testing point is faulty. Replace wiring and test again etc. The above is also a quick way of identifying L&R and F&B speakers if you are doing an installation.
Good luck.
