can someone shed some light on how to adjust the mixture on a 3.5efi? i have looked at most options to solve my problem (r.e. random backfire, page 1)a freind followed me today and said it kicked out black smoke on start up and occasionly whilst driving.so i guess it could be mixture,right?or thermotime switch or ??????

Mixture, on an EFI engines, Lucas, Gems or Bosch, is ECU controlled based on feedback from the O2 sensors, and there are no way to manually lean it out.
If it's running excessively rich, I'd check that your fuel temp sender is OK, your plugs are gapped correctly, and that your timing is set correctly (try8-9 degrees BTDC) That failing, I'd suspect you have pretty weepy injectors, as they tend to get when old. |
