Question Fuel Filter Fittings

After just recently decarbonizing the fuel injectors on the truck, I decided to also replace the fuel filter for increased results and to make better fuel flow for the truck.

I did a fuel pressure test on the truck and in the Key On, Engine Off (KOEO) test, the test results were just satisfactory +/- 1 psi. So it was time anyways to replace the fuel filter. This would also create less strain on the fuel pump for it to have better flow and less restriction.

I took the back passenger tire off for better access. Got the right size wrenches, however I could not get line wrenches on there...it was impossible. Before I did the decarbonizer, I knew it would be best to shoot the filter fittings with some PB Blaster to break them loose a bit. That did not work. I had several guys help me with the damn fittings, but no go. The filter is pretty much frozen on there. I had common sense to know also that heating any kind of threads would help break them loose. I also had the common sense to know that behind these threaded fittings is some good 93 octane fuel....LMAO.. so of course cannot use heat here.

What is my next move? I would really like to get this old filter off for the better of the entire fuel system.

Thanks guys.

how is everything? i hope things r turning around for u. everything in life is a test, for good or bad!!!
i had the same problem!!! i could not get the fuckers off! my rrc had to go to the indy shop for something else so i gave up and had the shop do my fuel filter. they had to cut the lines on both sides and use a fuel filter kit. the kit came w/ new bolts and etc. i have seen them for sale at BA and etc. the shop had to do the samething on my dads 91 rrc (fuel filter kit). it was pretty cheap then i thought about 40-50 dollors w/ parts and labor. i tried my best but now i will spray the bolts once every other oil change so i can do it myself the next time and not spend more of my time swear'n. LOL

Huh, that kit you showed me sounds like something I can do with the existing rubber lines that are at the fittings already, just need to get some hose clamps and new fittings and clamp it down hard.

But that is great that AB has something like that.

BTW yeah things have been slow, and layed back. Just trying to get through school, and trying to deal with bullshit with some of my friends hating my other friends.

Other than that, been keeping the truck running.

Or is it this type:

http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC1677G.cfm

threaded fittings on the rubber hose sections. The threaded fittings can seize solid. Replace filter, hoses & apply anti-sieze to the threads. Next time they'll come right out. Note thay you don't need to tighten the piss out of the fittings, O-ring does the sealing, not the threads.

Yeah, that is the type I have, and would like to try to do, and good call on the anti-seize on the threads.

Now this kit you showed me, looks like I will have to cut off the rubber fittings at where they are crimped to the actual steel fuel line, is that right?

I am just basing my assumption on the kit and what the pic shows me. Seems straight forward, as long as I be REAL careful.

If yours is crimped to the steel fuel line, it must be original. Mine had clamps (1990). Crimped connection is easy to remove. Hacksaw through the crimped ferrule & twist it off. Steel line is likely flared to hold hose, cut hose with a knife.

Expect a fair amount of fuel to spill, maybe a quart, so have rags or catch pan ready.

No drop lights, a shop I used to work in, burned to the ground when fuel spilled onto the old light-bulb type drop light. Nobody hurt thankfully.
