I think all US Range Rovers are 3.54:1 and, if I'm not mistaken all the axles are 10 spline until halfway through 1993. As an alernative, 4.11:1 is a popular ratio when you go with bigger (33" and over) tires.

All Classics US are 3.54:1; all P38a's (4.0/6) also use this ratio. Classics 1993+ and P38's 1995-1998 use 10-spline in the front and 24 spline in the rear. The reason is vehicles equipped with traction control got the heavier duty axles. The Classic got it in 1993, the early P38a's had rear traction control only until 1999. In '99 all Range Rovers and Disco II's got 24-spline axles all around (4-wheel ETC) All Disco 1's have f/r 10-spline and the usual final drive ratio. Not a bad ratio.

thanks for the info... I am looking to build my rig a bit more sturdy... I have plans to build up a 4.6(lucky for me my neighbor owns a speed shop and works hand-and-hand with the local rover shop, non-dealer), put in a Lt230, 24 spline axles..... I would like to get a little better gear ratio though.. Guess I have my work cut out... .Thanks again
