Good replacement distributor?

My '93 LWB with the 4.2 purrs like a kitten 99% of the time, but the other 1% it will die without warning, anywhere, anytime. Starts right back up as if nothing was wrong.

Without going into WHY this happens, I'd like to replace the stock dizzy with the remote GM ignitor swap for a self-contained unit, something better than stock, but maybe GM.

Same for the alternator, although I suppose stock is OK there. I do get occasional wild tach failures or fluctuations.

Any recommendations? I DID search under "replacement distributor" and found nothing, in case you're ready to flame me for not "searching".

I changed my distributor with a used one
I pulled at the junk yard
Nothing fancy
Works good still useing the stock spark amplifier
Also using a used coil taken from an old Mercedes I think
It works good as well
Fires right up

Petronix make a direct replacement complete distributor. All new with solid state components and very reasonable pricing. Great upgrade for Rover V8's, I've had one for a while.
