Default Got a big rusty surprise today.....

I was digging around in my rover today and what did i find? A hole....a big hole under my sill on the drivers side back. Its running down the weld a ways.So i cleaned it up sprayed it with some anti rust paint till i can tackle it myself.Anyone ever cut and replace the floorboards on that spot.Looks a bit complex to me.Mechanic stuff im good at.But i dont even know where to start with body repairs
I wheel alot so im not surprised. It doesnt need to be pretty. This rovers going to be four wheeling when i get another 95 classic.Sso please throw up your suggestions

Any tips would be nice....

hello,
i found a small hole under my front mud flap bracket on my drivers side. i pacthed it up because h2o was getting the carpet wet. took off the bracket (cut it off PITA) i painted some rust to primer and then used a piece of alum sheet, stainless steel self tapping screws, heavy duty silcone and patched it up. it has worked great and no leaks and the heavy duty silcone is holding up in the winter. next summer i am going to take out the carpets and go over all the floor boards w/ a anti rust paint like above and then get a underbody, wheel wells, all the cavites, and doors sprayed. hope this helps

Default Sills? We don't need no stinking sills.

Classic Bluey, look at these replacement sills. Seem quite resonable for the price.

Looking at having a set shipped over for "Miles" currently the only sills in the truck are my sliders

POR-15 is a great product. also look at this product it is low VOC (good? for the environment)

my 2 cents

Mike

Before you go swapping sills can you post a pic of the extent of the damage ,fitting new sills is not a pleasant job if you can post the pic I can tell you how to repair the rot or to replace the sill, RRs over here are very prone to rot and I have repaired many rotten rovers in my time new sills can be very awkward and very time consuming and not for the fainthearted Cheers ONz

I you do replace your sills, why not use some 2"x4" 3/16 box steel and make some "built-in" sliders. You can bend them enough to match the curve in the factory sills...

they cant be that long right?I mean if one is enough for both sides then if i chop them evenly in the middle they would only be around 4ft each.So if i can i will grab an extra one.If they are in a box its no big deal im sure.Dont really know if any terrorists are moving bombs around shaped like replacement sills
