I don't even know why anyone in their right mind would put anything but trustworthy bulbs in their headlights... I mean, why would you buy IPF's and put in JC Witney, (a brand of which I have never heard of), in your nice IPF's? And why does it matter in the factory globe? Aren't we talking about upgrading globes? lights. And yes, you are buying H4 bulbs not HB4!?!?! So what does it matter.

8000k lights would put out a purple light. Bright daylight is about 4500k. The "K" measurement is not the brightness of the light, but the colour of the light.

That "K" stands for Kelvin temp and p76 is right, at 8000K the light is very blue almost purple. Daylight (high noon) is 5500K and your average light bulb 3200k.
The other "K" in lighting is when you start talking about big movie where the "K" stands for thousands watts.... 10K = 10,000 watts! Biggest I've ever worked with was one 18K and a couple 12Ks to light an elephant in a studio!

And there is a decrease in useable light output when you get over about 5500K. The 8000k's still put out more light than my factory high beams though. And the only night driving the truck sees is in town where everything is already bright. I have 5300k HIDs in my Explorer and they are more of a light pink/purple while the Rangie's 8000k lights are a dark blue/purple.

I will be putting HIDs on the Disco when I install the '03 Headlights- should be a fun project.
