headlights

quick question friends do i need to take the grill off in order to replace the seal beam?(headlight)
if yes how much time does it take?
coz one of my headlights just got hit by a stone on the freeway and has a hole in it..

Yes you have to remove the grill to replace a headlight. It's very easy. Pop the hood, and you will see about 6 metal strips on the front edge of the engine compartment that have plastic tabs from the grill underneath them. Pry up the strips so the tabs can move freely. Pull the whole grill towards you and rotate slightly. It should pull completely free. Just three screws to get out the headlight, but be careful not to touch the headlight adjusting screws. Replacing the bulb should be self-explanatory. You might want to consider cleaning out the AC condensor and other stuff behind the grill while you have it off. Shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes to fix. Try checking your manual it should give the procedure in more detail, but it's very easy.

I concur with the Roverdude on the R&R.

Why not upgrade your lighting? I recommend upgrading to 55W/60W H4 bulbs, since the Wagner or Sylvania sealed beams can vary in color. I put a set of EMPI's in my blue RR, they only ran me $16 each and the price included the bulbs. Where as sealed beams will run you anywhere from $10-$60+ each at Schucks. I think the lighting pattern is better than the sealed beams as well. You can also go on Ebay and pick up a set of 7" Round Headlight Covers for a couple bucks. These'll help protect the glass lenses.

Environmentally justify it with: When a bulb goes out, you only have to throw away an item about the size of a D-cell battery vs something slightly smaller than a mini-basketball, thus creating less waste taking up space in a landfill.

Bought 2 pairs of wagner lights from the Kraigen parts store.. less than $20.00 for both including tax. My buddy Cliff got one from Napa for $6 bucks with his discount..

as far as the land fill thing goes.. Glass is can be recyd, and if it ends up in the land fill, the thousands of pounds of pressure will crush it into the size of a small battery....

After all the time I have spent teaching you, and you didn't remember the tabs across the grill top. Sucks though if you have grill gard, you can only tilt it forward, but you can still get to the lights.

hey guys got the new lights and put then in...
multi reflector,clear lense,white light...
well guess what i realised when i was getting my old ones out ?

they were the Hella Vision Plus ones ..
well the lights now arn't all that bright.. but they are white..
i think the previous owner had put in better bulbs as the bulbs in the old headlamps were 55/100 compared to the 55/65 white ones on the clear lense..
well i am just gonna put the old bulbs in the new housing ..lets see how that works ...
