Default Heated seats: bypassed lower cushion ......

So my buddy and I (who also has a '95 RRC) went through the process of bypassing the lower cushion element last week. Now the seat heaters work great, a little too good because they seem to sear our lower backs! I was going to bring up the old thread that someone had made about the process, but thought I'd start a new one.

Has anyone added a resistor to the circuit to compensate for eliminating the lower cushion? I do know that the way to compensate for the added voltage is to wire up both upper seat elements together in series to bring the voltage/resistance back to where it was, but I like having individual control of the heat, and my fiance does not like heated seats.

I guess I could go through and relearn my basic electrical circuit stuff from Physics 101 that I did over 10 years ago. I was hoping that someone here was able to add a resistor and restore the stock resistance to the circuit.

Anyone? TIA!

I just went ahead and replaced the lower element, its pretty easy. I could have fixed the old one by splicing a broken wire too, just figured a new one would last longer.

You have to remove the hog rings that hold the leather to the seat frame, etc. Once you do that, you just unplug them and install new ones. they are like $100 for a new heating grid. Worth it to me!

Huh, are the factory lower pads only $100? I didn't know that.

I would be willing to spend that to have some upholsterer do the deed.....
