HELP... '94 LWB floods on warm startup - Land Rovers Only

My '94 Range Rover LWB has developed a habit of stalling and flooding after a warm restart. It starts and runs fine when the engine is cold, but any time after reaching operating temp and being shut down, the following restart (within 20 or so minutes) is met with an instant stall out. Wait 20 minutes and everything is back to normal. I don't think that the pump is failing, I can smell fuel when cranking the engine and trying to restart. I've cleaned the throttle body and stepper motor. I even replaced the stepper and the problem disappeared for 8 days but now is back. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd check for spark next time this happens....the ignition module can overheat when it gets bad.

If spark is good, Id suspect the fuel temp sensor.

this might sound wierd but check the ignition dist. pickup air gap,its the only thing I've ever seen cause a hot start or at times stalling problem when hot.
1) carefully remove the dist cap and rotor (you might have to break the rotor if it wont come off easy) or you will wreck the dist.
2) remove the plastic cover that says DO NOT ADJUST covering the pickup assy
3) use a brass feeler gauge and check the pickup clearence and adjust it to .010 thou. inch it will change even though the say it wont.
4) add loctite to the set nuts (brass) they are probbly finger tight by now.

also make sure your fuel pressure regulator vaccum hose is hooked up. I
dont think thats it though.

Could it be a bad fuel injector flooding the engine? Check and see if you smell gas a few minutes after you shut it off.

x3 on the spark. Now mine did this to me twice, but only because the spark plugs were junk! The first time, the plugs were old anyways and apparently had way too many miles on them so replacing them solved my problem. The second time, the Bosch Plugs I had installed the first time, went to sh$t on me after going off road with them. After that, and installing new Champions on and never had the problem since.
