help redneck with a limey truck

ok so i always wanted a range rover , finally got one, 89 classic for a grand i thought i stole it drove it home it ran better at part throttle than full, thought it was the fuel filter so i changed it 18 bucks drove it for a few miles it ran the same ,drove home went inside came out it wouldnt crank for anything. gopt on line found out fuel pumps are the achilles tendon of said vehicle replaced that drove it 20 miles came home wont start no electricity to fuel pump at fuse in dash hot wire fuel pump to connector at tank still no fuel output did i miss something , could i really have gotten a bad pump or is there something im over looking please help i already love my rover and will die without it

there is a fule pump relay check that out and see if you have a good ground going to the pump
