Ok so I have decided to install HID lights in the 93 RR. Done some research and you can buy the glass headlights and install an H4 HID kit inside. So has anyone done this? Seems simple enough. It will cost about $100.00, after shipping. Silverstars will cost you $50+ so I decided why not go all the way!

I've done it and the difference is amazing. I want to upgrade to better glass housings though probably the hella's the light pattern on the cheap ones isn't the best.

this weekend I intalled a set of WIPAC headlights and silverstar ultra light bulbs on one of my classics, i drive country roads at night a whole lot and boy what a difference.
I found my self using less of my hi beams, the low beams really do illuminate, i seem to have less use of my driving lights as well, even thou I have hiper white 55 w h3 light bulbs and clear hella 550's. the use of auxiliary driving lights do complement the package but again i found less use of them. I have yet to try them in bad weater (rain, snow or fog). I reccomend the upgrade. |

I'll get pics up this weekend of mine just haven't had time I've been traveling for work and didn't bring a cam with me.
I have never had to go through an inspection since my home of record is in the midwest so I can't tell you for sure. I do know that no LEO has given me any trouble about them even the one that was nice enough to give me a fix it ticket for my burned out license plate lights. I would check with an inspection station.

they are as long as you keep the hi/low feature, you must have hi beams to pass insp.
many hid kits avoid the hi beam all together. I am looking in to those for my other classic (hi/lo). the self leveling is just a feature for the cars equipped with hid from factory, now those take a little getting used to. they follow the road as you turn the wheel, and that is very distracting not to mention f..ks with your brain, go over a road dip and they adjust and if the car has light sensors they diminish power on a lighted area or when opposing traffic comes at you with brigth lights (aproaching or with hi's or drivings on). the darker the road the brighter they get (OEM). |
