Default Hot Stalling

Greetings all! I have learned a lot from the forum, and now I have a good Rangie problem worthy of the forum. I searched through old posts but so far I haven't found a solution.

I have a 1995 classic SWB with 109k.

The Problem: cold start fine, after 10 minutes dies and will not restart until stone cold. I know this is a common problem, but there seems to be many reasons why it can be happen.

What I know: I have a new ignition coil and module, rotor, cap, plugs, and wires.

I have spark from the coil to the distributor and I have a spark coming out of the distributor.

I have power to the injectors and the fuel pump (replaced within the last couple of years).

I'm stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can test next? Please note I am a neophyte with mechanics, but I am learning fast!

Thank you!

If you searched the old posts, then you know that I'm going to say... it's your coil. You didn't say if you changed it out or if you bought your truck with a "new coil" on it. So let's assume you replaced it.

If you didn't have the problem prior to replacing the ignition components, and you still have your old one (you didn't throw it away, did you?) swap it out with your new one and see if it runs okay.

Thank you both for your thoughts. Yes she was working fine prior to replacing the coil, and that would make some sense with stalling once the Rover is warmed up. I will see if the old coil is around and if it could be swaped out.

The truck did run fine with the new coild for about four weeks.

Do they go bad that fast? I replaced it with a Bosch.

A bad ignition module will eat coils.
Just another thing to think about.

Well, my mechanic has figured out the problem and --I hope-- fixed it. Appears that the fuel pressure regulator hose had a crack in it and the result was that the engine flooded causing the stall at low rpm and preventing the Rangie from restarting.

So hopefully that will be the fix.

Thought I would provide another update. My most recent problem was the Rangie not starting cold. If I kept the key turned over for 1-2 minutes she would finally start.

Well . . . surprise, surprise. It has turned out that my new ignition module had crapped out in only 500 miles. So now I have my old gear in there--she starts fine--and am looking into an msd system.
