Default How the hell do I get my door open??

Hi guys yerterday we where doing some work on my RRC drivers door just trying to adjust the inner rod that opens the door ,before it will open but I had to pull very hard ,so we screw the rod all the way and the door open with a lot lighter touch , problem is that a few hours later I lock the door came back and now it will not open from the outside or inside ,so I have to climb thru the passenger door into the drivers seat for now ....so what went wrong and how the hell do I open this now that is close ..?? How are you at grand theft auto ? A coat hanger or a slim-jim lock pick like the tow truck guys carry can help you access the door lock/latch from the outside. Once in you can remove the trim pannel and look to see what the fault is.

Did you put the clip back on the rod?

Can you open the door from the inside? If not you will have to remove the door panel from the inside and open the door.

I don't think you were supposed to screw the rod in all the way, just a few turns might've worked.

Lemme know if you need help.

I just went through this very thing with my '92. What I had to do to get the door open was remove the drivers seat via the back seat and carefully remove the door panel from the inside (complete pain in the @ss as I had to do it 3 times). What happened on mine was the rod was twisting at the interior door handle and the springs on the latch were not strong enough to retract it back. I cleaned and re-lubed to no avail. I eventually just replaced the latch and it works like a champ now. The latch is a GM unit.
