Default I need help.....

Medication, or solitary confinement. Something.......

This afternoon I picked up ANOTHER RR.....1989. This one has trouble moving, it does run. When you put it in gear it seems to go in gear, but won't move.

In the trunk I found another tranny and a transfer box...... The latter was removed because PO thought that was the problem.....apparently it wasn't...so maybe it's OK.

He bought the replacement used.....the tranny was attached. Condition unknown......

It has lots of good parts on it, including parts that are in need of replacement on the 91.

My wife is suspicious of the fact that I may be starting a junk yard.....

Like I said, I need help......

Stupid question, but you did make sure the transfer box is not in neutral?
Did you try locking the diff?

I did try the x-fer box.....not much change there, hard to operate. Doesn't it have the VC by 1989?

I am not totally sure but I think the 89 models were the year before the VC came out!

OK, stupid question on my part.....if it is a locking diff, where is the button/lever/knob/handle/dongle to operate it?

Elsewhere someone also suggested to check the wheels....jack them up a little and see if they free wheel.....check for busted CV joint or half shaft.....

stupid answer potentially - but maybe i'm mis-understanding the question. only factory equipped locking dif on a range rover would be the center dif in the transfer case, which when equipped is operated by moving the high/low lever to the left. if equipped the transfer case shift lever button depicts such.

In that case not so equipped......thus BW with VC. Research confirms that on the 89 (I looked in the green bible....)
