My 91 RR is blowing plenty of heat at 60 mph plus ,even in the back seat, but no blower motor running on any setting that I can hear. The ac blowers are fine.
I too get cold air in the vents no matter what I select for the air flow lever. i really do not want to rip out the unit because it was already done by a dealer 2 years ago. Is there a way to direct wire current to the blower motor to test it before I rip everything out??? can i circumvent the relays? Okierover helped out last time but the resisitor was not the culprit!!! Help I am freezing !!!!: |

I have an 88- I "think" the only difference is my blower motor is on the right sdie of the heater unit, yours might be on the left (drivers) side.
My motor is connected with a 2 wire- ground and power- naturally the power wire is thru the resistors and relays- but- Yes, you should be able to hook up 12vdc direct to the motor- just make sure your power and ground are correct- and it should spin the motor- fast. The resistor is there to give you med and slow speed- Check the wiring diagram schematic. If your motor spins on 12vdc directly, then it's troubleshooting time- switch, relay, etc. Check the schematic! Also, being new to RRC's myself, it was quite surprising to only have AC blow out the vents. However, I don't get cold air thru the vents unless I select the AC mode on the panel- mybe I gt a good seal somewhere??? Good luck. Carl |

(yeah right ...after 23 years of Lucas elelctronics). Are there wires going directly to the heater motor I can get to without totally pulling the dash and pulling the unit? |

Good luck with the relay replacement----
You might get to a connector by following the off-low-med-high blower switch from the control panel- a few screws should do it, determine which side the motor is on- if on drives side, should have fairly good access- if under the passenger side, some panels will probably have to come off. Good luck. Carl |
