key will go into the ignition but will not turn. Tried messing with the steering lock and nothing. Just when I was about to call a locksmith, I tried cycling the door lock and whala it turned. Was it just luck or are these somehow connected ?

Mine does this once in a blue moon, the key I have I think is slightly bent and prevents the ignition cylinder to turn, and when I flip the key around and try it the other way, it may or may not work.
Also the tumblers in the ignition cylinder may be dirty and may cause some sticking issues when you go to turn the key, and sometimes when I move the wheel back and forth, it gets it to unlock. BTW Where are you in Ohio? I am in Lima. ![]()

Cincinnati and its hot !!!
blew compressed air into lock and all sorts of stuffs came out, including metal shavings. Whats the best way to replace the ign switch, guess it would have to come with a key. Chas. How hard is it to install a keyless system ? Would be nice when its cold out. |

It's not that hard to remove the ignition switch but it is a little time consuming. The biggest pain is taking a Dremel and slicing into the shear bolts so that you can remove them. Again, not that hard, just a pain. I have the complete assembly out of a '92 along with the key if you're interested.

I hate that problem! My Old 81 RRC did the same thing. Then my 93 LWB had the same damn problem. It pissed me off it would always do it to me when I was in a hurry. I took the LWB to a Rover specialist here in SLC and he fixed the problem.

Paul, Thanks again for the ignition switch.
Just wanted the fellow members to know how helpful Paul was with my problem. For the modest price of 35 dollars he removed and shipped an ignition switch with key. After installing the thing I realized what a pain removing it must have been, postage and sweat alone were more than 35 dollars. I hope I can repay the favor if not to Paul them someone else and encourge others to do the same. Charles. |

Hi Charles,
I'm glad I could be of help. I've taken a number of these trucks apart and it gets easier with each one. But, that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the appreciation! Thanks, Paul |
