Default Leaking Coolant Mystery

Classic Gurus,

I've removed the steering pump to get a better look at my water pump area.

I've located the coolant leak. When I pour coolant into the expansion tank (motor not running), it fairly immediately leaks out of a small hole in the gasket between the "top cover" and the engine block!

Any clues on how this could be possible and how I should proceed?

Thanks,

ChamplainRover

it is a land rover, anything is possible.
coolant leak = auto flush of cooling system
oil leak = auto lube and rust protecction
broken parts = the vehicle acknoledges a part needs replacement so it lets you know it.
no start = a way of telling you to stay put no need to go anywhere
lock out = showing off its anti theft protection
non working electricals = dont need to use it anyways, conserve energy
poor mpgs = me and only me shall be allowed to use oil reserve
slow on fast lane = I dare you to make me move
costly repairs = you bought me not the other way around
does not pass smog test = who is the goverment to tell me I cannot burn my fuel improperly.
does not pass safety inspection = I am an english gentleman damm it....kiss my royal britt ass.
and then you wonder what makes a rover a rover....................go figure.

Not sure what to do with the post above, but it isn't helpful.

I really need and would appreciate advice.

Thanks,

That's the head gasket.
It's gonna have to be replaced.
While you have the heads off get a "head job". It will be giving your top end new life and your engine too.
