guys my right front abs caliper is leaking fluid drip drip drip, even when parked. the caliper is abs and about 8 months old. cannot recall if it's a remanufactured or brandy new. all the bleeders are tight etc.
wondering what it might be ?? stuck piston, bad seal kit, and what a cheap quick fix is if the parts supplier won't replace under guarantee. thanks |

Replace the seals if its the pistons that are leaking. It's cheap and easy to do.

Are you sure the caliper is at fault?
Mine leaked from one of the 2 hoses going to the caliper. John Gadd supplied me with a used hose to get me by. The hose had a tiny pin hole, but big enough to loose all the fluid after a few stops. Luckily for my family and I, we were near home and arrived safely. Braking was a chore, but keep your distance and plan your stops well in advance. Two foot braking is required for panic stops. ![]() After this incident, I purchased braided teflon hoses on-line when they were on special. I have not installed them yet, when I'm 100% better, it will be on my to do list. Also wanted to add, that the front calipers have a tiny o-ring for the 2 halves. This is not a common leak, but should be mentioned as many re-builders never take the caliper halves apart. The pistons can pit and cause leaks, some re-builders just wire brush them and reinstall. The piston seals are another source of leaks, if one purchases inferior quality products. Stick with an OEM brand for piece of mind. I don't know what else I can add, that's pretty much it. |
