Default Lift needed to clear 32's or 33's

I'm lookin at buying explorer4x4's 88' RRC, I wish to eventually run 32's or 33's on it and think that a RTE 2' and RTE 2' body lift will be a good combination with a good amount of clearance. Is this too much lift for the tires i want to run

All that is required for 32 inch tyres is a 1 inch body lift. For 33 inch tyres, you need to put anothere inch in. 235/85 16's (32 inch) will fit under a classic without any body trimming. Due to the extra width in a 255/85 16 (33 inch) you will need to start cutting the guards.

maybe for an older RRC like the 70's model, but over here i've noticed 3 inch lifts to run 33's.

Depends how wide you go....... There are a few rovers I wheel with...Only has the OME 2" and 33 X 12.50, he also has offset steel rims.. He trimmed a little on the wheel wells.......... I run 235/85's on the stock rims and no probs

2"body lift 2" OME 33 x 12.5(No Trim)

2" OME lift 33x 12.5( Trimmed Fenders)

2" OME 33 x 12.5(No trimming, but rubs when flexed fully!)

thanks funrover the pics really helped out, I think I like the 2 inch RTE, with the 2 inch body lift, So that i don't have to hack up the fenders alot and this will be a true trail truck. Also do all of those RRC's have cones, because i the red one looks like it has nice flex and so does the white and black one.

are cones really worth it? and would 33's on stock rims fit under a 2 spring and 2 body?

Ben, you can do the maths yourself. The car comes standard with 29 inch tyres and you can fit 30 inch tyres without issue. So if you fit 32 inch tyres, the increase in radius of the tyre is only 1 inch. So the tyre comes 1 inch closer to the guards. If you lift the body by 1 inch yopu move the distance between the tyre and guard back to standard. All 4 door classic range rovers have the same axle and wheel arch size. I ran 32 inch tyres with soft springs and a 1 inch body lift for years without any issue. 33 inch tyres will start grabbing the rear doors, this when you need to start some cutting.

Where these people running 3 inch lifts for 32 inch tyres running spring or body lifts. Spring lifts do not allow bigger tyres, except if they limit the upward travel of the wheel.

Depends how wide...... I have tire rub when I turn to the extreme side...... The offset is a helpful hand for the wide tires!!

I run a 2" RTE Lift with Pro Comp ES9000 shocks, and looking at how easily 265/75/16 tires fit on mine, 32"s look like they can fit.

Im running 33x12.50 with a 2" RTE spacer lift and 2" OME HD springs.
I had to trim the front wheel well slightly.
In full flex the rear tires kiss the top of the wheel well slightly, bump stops will fix that, in the front the same thing. I made the front wheel arch have the same profile as the rear one and that cleared up the rubbing issues on the rear of the front arch and had a slight rub on the front of it so i just went ahead and removed the front corners, cuz i think it looks cool as hell with out em.

in this one you can kinda see where i folded the metal up and under on the rear of the front arch.

these are pre arch trimming
before

after
