Default Low idle

Just had base idle adjusted and replaced stepper motor b/c of low idle & stumbling. Stumbling is gone, truck runs fine, but idle is about 7200 in nuetral and about 5300 in drive. Is that low? Seems repsonsive on inital acceleration. No more hesitation or stumbling. My question is about the stepper motor. Shouldn't it cause the idle to rise when the AC is turned on? My does not.

thanks

Well, I think you mean 720 in idle and 530 in drive....are you going by the dash tach? They are notoriously inaccurate. I think when the A/C is engages the stepper should accomidate it by adding more air, but in theory the idle should stay the same - ie the stepper motor just compensates to keep the idle the same....

That's actually right around where it should be. My rover has a sticker on the left front of the engine compartment that gives the idle range and yours may too. Anyway, mine purrs like a kitten right below the 500 mark.

my rrc is around the same as all of your rovers. when i 1st start her up she runs in N around 750-1000 (acouple of mins) and soon drops down to 720-750 in N. in D around the 500-550 or so. those #'s r from the dash tach.
