Default Lower engine tray

Does all of you have the lower engine tray that covers the underside of engine?
Mine is missing!! Just to see if it is critical to have that cover.

Never heard of it... the PO removed mine and I'm sure it's not needed.

What on earth is that for?
I'm guessing it is to confuse owners where leaks might be.
OR to annoy you when you need to work on something.
If it was made out of 5mm aluminum or steel then okay but wow.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry Adrian I forgot to use the sarcasm font.
From what I've heard/read it is not needed and was intended as a finishing piece. Also, if you had it installed, how would you know if it is leaking.

Default I didn't think I need one but

I used to have 97 Audi A8 and it had the protection on it. Was helpful driving in snow and wet area since the car was low. But with RR, maybe it is wise move to get the skid plate instead of this plastic piece but was curious. Did you know this is $210 piece at Rovers North and AB? Good God!

You can get a skid plate for that!

It's an acoustic tray required to get the car through the drive-by noise regulations. Removal probably improves engine cooling.

My 1991 RR is supposed to have something like that under front of engine. Got it at 63K miles and never had one. Consider it a blessing when changing oil.

My 1992 Classic has one on it, an is somewhat of a pain when changing oil. We have had them on all of our Volvos and now the Mercedes, they are for keeping road water from splashing up onto the electrical system; this is somewhat rediculous on a Range Rover with its wading capabilities. My 95 4.0 does not have one, and one was not offered.

It is not for keeping water out..................
It is an acoustic tray to keep the noise IN.
