Need some suggestions on this problem. Lost my original set of keys for my 95 LWB. Had the dealer make a duplicate one based on the code...he warned me that the ignition may be a little hard to engage the first few times. Well, he was sorta right and sorta wrong. The first few times were a piece a cake due to me using Lock-ease. But then (dummy me) I pull into a parking spot at an angle where my steering wheel is not aligned perfectly at the noon position and afterwards when I try turning the key, it won't budge. After trying for an hour of jiggling it and jamming it...nothing.
Any suggestions short of having it towed? I remember there is some pin underneath the engine that you can pull to release the gears...would that help to enable me to align the steering wheel whereby (i'm hoping) the key would be easier to turn? Thanks in advance. |

Relieve the pressure on the steering lock by moving the steering wheel.
That always works for me. |

Just turning the steering wheel will relieve the pressure. Turn the wheel away from the angle of the wheels. If your wheels are turned right turn the wheel left.
Then you should be able to turn the key in the ignition. |
