Default new to site..sort of

I osted this in the general forum, but this is where I've been spend most of my time so,..

Hello everyone. My name is Rob and I’m from NYC. I joined this site a few months ago when I was looking for a new truck. I always liked the looked of RR’s and was doing some research to help me make up my mind on what to buy.

Long story short, I ended up with a 95 RRC LWB with about 95k miles on it. In the beginning I thought I had made a huge mistake with this truck. In the eight months that I've owed it, I've spent almost as much money fixing it as I did to own it. This last time (it’s in the shop right now, the EAS is down) I thought that was it. I'm selling the piece of crap.

Then I stumbled upon landroversonly.com again this morning, and it reminded me of why I bought a RR to begin with. After seeing all the pics on this site with this mod and that mod...running through miles of knee deep mud, rolling over boulders, climbing 75 degree steep hills, etc…

I WANT TO DO THAT!!

So, I'm keeping my LWB. My new years resolution will be to accomplish what I set out to do in the first place. I just ordered a repair/service manual. I’m pretty handy and I’m hoping to learn a lot more about how to work on my RR myself to cut some of the costs I’ve been incurring from the mechanic.

I haven’t heard back from the mechanic yet, but if it isn’t an easy fix I’m going to have the EAS removed. Does anyone have a ballpark figure of what that will run me? Is it possible to do myself without a lift?

Welcome aboard Rob! You should get together with our NY/ NJ group for a shop day. I have a '93 RRC and DII. I just changed out the air suspension on the RRC and it's very easy. Everything else you need to know you will find here. Let me know whenever you want to meet up.

Pine Barrens - South NJ about 2 1/2 hours (lots and lots of water)
Rausch Creek - PA about 3 hours
Paragon park - also PA 3 hours

There used to be quite a few trails up north but it's either closed or illegal.

welcome! my dad and i have both rrc's and we had to drop alot of money in r rovers. i got my rrc in spring of 2005 w/ 54,000 on her and the PO did not up keep the rover and didnt have any records. i had to do the 60,000 tune up w/ alot of other things to get her back in shape. my dad has had his 91 since 98 and also had to drop some money right away like any old car. he just put in over $3,000 in parts in the last yr but for a rig that is that old, like mine alot of the part r from when it was put on at the LR factory. just start putting money into getting it in shape first then add the mod's ("fun parts") if u have limited money and a wife that is in control of the money (keep her happy).
