Default oil pump gears

How freely should the gears move in the oil pump after being packed with Vaseline? Mine moves, but not easily. The gear was a PITA to get out & in the timing cover.

Thanks!

Hey Kevin,

How about those screwy 12 point 8mm bolts holding the pump on! Nice huh!!

Your probably okay. There is a measurement for them in the manual. Did you perform that? If they're within tolerances, I probably wouldn't worry about it a whole lot.

To make a suggestion, I put a mechanical guage on the pump where the sending unit was - i will post a pic of this on the thread "real temp guage". This way you don't have to worry about whether or not you have pressure. Its a great peace of mind.

Also, be sure to change the oil the first time after about 20 miles or so to get rid of all the junk from break in like pre assembly lube, etc. Don't use synthetic oil and use a good filter. Cheers!
