Default Is this one worth it

I have been kicking the thought around about which model Lad Rover I want to own next and found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RANGE...QQcmdZViewItem

Is it worth the asking price? what makes this one cost so much more or is it way over priced? Is this one really rare or is the seller just bs'ing?

I am looking for something alittle different from the rest so this one caught my attention, but I have no clue about the rrc and overfinch stuff so any and all input is welcome

HELL NO... You can get RRCs for $1000 or less if you look around.

In order to figure out which LR you want next, define your goals for it... what % will you be on-road versus off-road .. how much can you/do you want to work on it... etc.. once you figure that out we can point you in the right direction.

I know the price is high I was just wondering what makes it so high, is the overfinch options really that much of a difference? Is it a really rare option for the rrc's?

I am looking for strictly off-road, but can still driven to the trails and on the road if needed while being able to carry my 2 kids in it as well.

Then again if I was to find something truly rare and worth the money I wouldn't be against buying it, but only if it was something that is truly a rare thing to run across.

So I guess I am really open on my options for my next Land Rover. If I was to find something rare it would be nice to own and keep it nice and then I can always pick up something like a cheap Disco 1 or a old rrc.

Overfinch is an aftermarket accessory company... they do nice work, but that truck is not one that i'd even let see a dirt road.. Buy a cheap disco1 or RRC and mod it to your liking..

Oh I agree something that is rare and uncommon wouldnt see even a dirt road. I tend to like rare models and if it was truly rare and worth the money I would consider buying and still look for a cheap rrc or d1 to mod.

So are these overfinch really worth that much more? How rare are they over here in the states?

I don't think its worth that much. Is it rare? Possibly, since Overfinch is located in Surrey, UK and the truck is here now... But what does rare really mean? Is it valuable? That all lies in the buyers eyes.. is it worth $20k to you? To me its worth around $3k and thats only because its in good condition and has low miles. Is it something that other Rovers owners want [hence rising the price]... I don't think so, maybe a handful of LR people care about mint RRCs... the rover community is generally split between two groups, the offroaders and the 'new class' of RRS/LR3 owners..

Want something rare? Find a early 80s 2-door rangie.. or better yet, spend that 20k on a defender. Or buy a $500 RRC and put 8k into it and have it unstoppable offroad.

Actually- I think it might be a fake. Those bumpers were available aftermarket- there's one around here that has them. I think I can still get those bumpers new for about $500.
Overfinch usually doesn't mod the Rover engine at all- they usually swap in something entirely different and have different wheels etc. Unless there's a documentation trail with it- I think it's probably 100% bullsheeyit.

See thats what I was trying to find out. I liked the way it looked, but didnt see anything that really made to much different. Something like an early 80's 2-door rangie would be great to own. I looked at the pics and just couldnt see why it was worth so much more becuase in honesty it didnt seem that much different from a $2,000-3,000 rangie, but wanted to find out if I was missing something.

$20k on any Range Rover Classic is at least $12k too much. You could buy a solid Classic for $5k and put $5k more into it and have a pretty awesome truck.

For $20K you could also buy a nice 99 or 00 Disco, bolt on $10k of off road goodies and have a sweet rig.

I'm inclined to think it might be fake like Steve said. The current owner may not know it thought...still, I have never seen a 5spd RR (besides the pre-87 grey markets) so that makes it cool.

Not $19,000 cool...

I dont know why but some of the 95s I've looked at had serious rust issues....worse than other years.

I was also watching that Rover and it sold early so I bet he got his buy it now price at $19,000.

BTW I will have a 95 RRC SWB white with tan up for sale very soon. I am getting a few little things fixed and will be putting it on EBAY with a low reserve. I will post the link in the EBAY section when I list it but if anyone would like pictures I would be more than happy to send them.

Thanks
