Today I was bored so I decided to check out my pcv valve and everything up there and clean the flame trap and whatnot.
What I found was a huge pit of carbon and filth.
I took off the hoses that go from the flame trap to the PCV valve and then to the throttle body and cleaned those and the pcv valve (the smaller side was completely clogged :O) and btw the PCV isnt a 1 way valve of have any flappers or any complicated thing btw. I assume its a T shaped part with one smaller opening.
Anyways I have cleaned out that part of the engine, I want to get into the plenum chamber and get all the carbon out because I can look into the throttle body and see all the crap in there and want to clean it. I have been using gum cutter so far to clean all the tubing and whatnot
How do I run seafoam through the top end of my engine so that It will clean my plenum chamber and all the other random hoses on the intake part of the engine??
I am pretty sure I have a vacuum problem, I dont know where some hoses go and my vacuum resivoir is just sitting there with no hoses on it I cant find a diagram of how the vacuum system works in the Rover CD either. Does anybody have a picture or diagram, link ect on how to help with this??
I am considering just taking everything apart and cleaning it but I figure that I will probably break something
So will running seafoam clean my engine well ( I can do it more than once if needed i assume) or should I take it apart and go nuts?
Do I need to change my oil after induction seafoaming?

Do a search for seafoam & you should get all the info you need.

There should be a couple stickers on the inside of the hood showing the vacuum routing. If not, post a pic of the hoses in question.
Also, add your year & model to you signature or profile so we know which Rover you're dealing with.

Found some things for Discos and one RRC owner used the fuel pressure hose?? Could I just use the small hose that comes off the PCV valve?

Good info thanks!

Also, I cleaned my crankcase flame filter and boy was that dirty! I knocked most of the carbon out of it and used a whole can of gum cutter so I feel better about that lol.
What was underneath the flame "filter" was troubling, it was covered in carbon and this was inside the engine!
What I did to clean that was used gum cutter and a screwdriver to scrape it off and at the same time had a vacuum to catch all the carbon so it couldn't cause a problem inside the engine.
Has anybody done that ^ before, I don't wanna screw something up by trying to help my engine lol
I put a drill but through the brass insert side until I saw it in the middle of the big pipe. It was clogged heavily with crap and it was the only way.
Also, can you seafoam properly with just revving the engine in park? Or do you need to have a load on it?

-Take off one of the vacuum hoses that eventually leads to the plenum (you have a few to choose from, I usually use the hose going from top of the t piece)
-While the car is idle, SLOWLY pour the 1/2 can of seafoam through the hose, making sure not to stall the engine.
-Try to get the rest of the can through hose a bit quicker, and then shut of the engine.
-Walk away from the car for like 15-20 minutes, then fire her back up again, you will see the craziest white smoke come out of your tailpipe, it will literally smoke up your entire neighborhood, so watch out.
-Once your exhaust returns to normal, you've successfully seafoamed.
Good luck. I'm sure with the work you've been doing you'll experience good results in increased engine performance.

Well I seafoamed today, and everything went good!
Got about 1/2 can of seafoam in and let is sit for about 1hour and drove it and it smoked pretty good!
I think I might do the rest of the can another day through another vacuum line?
Afterwords, I didn't really notice much difference in the car performance wise. It maybe sounds a bit better when im giving the car gas but that is about it. My idle is still crapola and im probably going to clean out the whole stepper motor housing that it plugs into.
Any tips on cleaning that housing?
I was just going to spray gum cutter into it and catch the liquid with a paper-towel as it goes through the pipe into the plenum chamber.
Would it be hard to take the whole housing off?
